Yesterday evening we arrived in Caye Caulker, Belize. We left Mexico by small boat. Customs and immigration leaving Mexico was interesting. Before going on the boat we had to line up all our luggage and stand behind a white line, whilst soldiers with sniffer dogs went through everything. You get that guilty feeling, like you are going to be in trouble even though you know you haven’t done anything wrong.
After a 2-hour bumpy boat ride on quite a small boat, we went trough Customs and Immigration in Belize, which basically was a wooden shack on the beach and was very trouble free. We had to wait in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye for our connecting boat to Caye Caulker. Ambergris Caye is also called La Isla Bonita. Sound familiar? Well that Madonna song is actually about that island. Remember the line ‘I dreamt of San Pedro’? It is the main town on La Isla Bonita. I never understood what the heck she was going on about but now I do.
A short boat ride later we arrived at our destination and a short golf cart ride later we arrived at Mara’s Guesthouse, which is to be our home for at least three nights. We are in a wooden cabin right opposite the beach and when we woke up this morning we saw the sun rising from the beach behind palm trees. Do I need to say more?

Always thought she was saying ‘some potato’. Thought bit random!
I always thought she sang ‘I fell in love with some Petro’!
