After our month in Antigua, we took the shuttle bus to Panajachel at Lake Atitlan. We had booked an absolutely fabulous hotel, Casa Del Mundo for two nights as a special treat because it was John’s birthday. It did not disappoint, the food, staff, room and view were just amazing.
The first day we spent on the hotel grounds and had a dip in the lake. We explored a bit and found a restaurant/bar with a hot tub and infinity pool, great place to hang out for a few hours. Possibly the pool with the best view I have ever seen.
Next day, we hiked the hour to the next village, Santa Cruz. Great walk and on the way we saw a football pitch with again, an unbelievable view.
In Santa Cruz itself, there wasn’t much there and the children nicknamed it ‘Santa Poo’ as it was littered with dog poo everywhere! Nesta drew a lot of attention here too but having just woken from a nap he was not amused!
Unfortunately for us the weather turned and it was rain, rain, rain so we decided to move on to Xela sooner rather than later.
